Edit team and player totals (football and soccer)

Football and soccer let you type over a team's totals or a player's line. Here's where, and how those numbers behave afterwards.

In every sport, the best way to fix a stat is to fix the play behind it. Football and soccer also let you type over the totals directly, which helps when you missed several plays or kept part of the game on paper. Other sports don't have these editors: correct their plays instead (see Edit or delete any play).

Short version

Football: on the Live page, tap Edit under a team in the LIVE Stats panel, or the pencil next to a player in Player Stats. Make football edits before you end the game. Soccer: the same Edit buttons work on the Live page and on the game's page after the final.

The Live page closes when the game ends, so football totals can only be edited while the game is live. Check them before you tap End Game.

Edit football team totals

  1. On the Live page, find the LIVE Stats panel and tap Edit under the team.
  2. The team's Edit Stats form opens, with Scoring, Passing, Rushing, Defense, Situational and Penalties sections.
  3. Change the numbers and tap Save Changes.

Score in the Scoring section changes the scoreboard straight away. Every other field changes the team's total only.

Your changes are kept as a correction on top of the plays. If you add 2 to penalties, the next penalty you log still counts, so the total keeps going up from your corrected number.

Edit a football player's line

  1. In the Player Stats panel on the Live page, pick the team's tab and tap the pencil next to the player. In the quarterback and running back panels you can also tap Edit QB Stats or Edit RB Stats.
  2. The form opens for that role: QB Stats (passing and rushing), RB Stats, Receiving Stats or Defense Stats.
  3. Change the numbers and tap Save.

Edit soccer team totals

  1. Tap Edit under the team: in LIVE Stats on the Live page, or in Team stats on the game's page after the final.
  2. The team's Edit Stats form opens with Shots (Total, On Goal, Saves), Set Pieces & Fouls (Corners, Fouls, Offsides), Discipline (Yellow Cards, Red Cards) and Possession.
  3. Change the numbers and tap Save Changes.

Goals aren't in this form. To change the score, fix the goal plays (see Edit or delete any play).

Like football, team totals are kept as a correction on top of the plays, so plays you log later still count.

Possession in this form

  • During the game: saving the form also sets possession to the number in the Possession box, even if you didn't change it, and that number then stays fixed in the box score for the rest of the game. The Possession bar keeps timing the current half on the Live page, but it no longer changes the box score figure. If you're tracking possession, make team edits after the final instead.
  • After the final: the Possession box doesn't save. The other fields do, and possession stays as you tracked it.
  • Saving during the game adds a Possession Adjusted row to the play log. The half shown at the top of the Live page stays as it was.

Edit a soccer player's line

  1. In Player stats (game page) or Player Stats (Live page), pick the team's tab.
  2. Tap the pencil next to a player, or choose a player from + Add / edit player stats… to add a player who has no stats yet.
  3. The player's Edit Stats form opens with goals, shots, assists, saves, cards and fouls. Change the numbers and tap Save.

How player edits behave

Player edits work differently from team edits: the numbers you save replace that player's totals from the plays, and stay that way. Plays you log for that player afterwards don't change the saved numbers.

So edit a player's line after their last play: at the end of the game, or once they're off the field. If you edit early, come back and update it at the end.

Player edits don't change the team totals or the score. Change those separately if they're wrong too.

If a save doesn't work

If the form stays open after you tap Save or Save Changes, the save didn't go through. No message shows. Check your connection and try again.

Checklist
