Most live-scoring problems come down to a handful of causes: the game isn't live, or the connection is weak. Find your problem below. If it isn't here, see Fix common problems or email info@eightyfivecreative.com with the game, the teams and what you see.
Short version
Can't score: make sure the game is started. Plays failing while online: tap Retry. Score looks off: wait for queued plays to sync and check the fan page. Still stuck: reload the Live page while you have signal.
The Live page won't open
Track Stats takes you to the game's page instead. You can only score a game that's live. If the game is scheduled, tap Start Game on its card under Games or on its page, then Track Stats. If nothing happens when you tap Start Game, check your connection and tap it again. See Start a game and end it.
The game is final. Final games can't be reopened, and the Live page sends you to the box score. You can still correct plays there: see Edit or delete any play, during or after the game.
The page shows Game not found. The link is old, the game was deleted, or you're signed in to a different account. Open the game from Games instead.
The page won't load at all. You're offline. The Live page needs a connection to open. Once it's open it keeps working offline: see Keep scoring when the internet drops.
Logging plays
The stat buttons are greyed out. A play is still saving: Saving… shows next to Quick stats. Wait a moment. If you tap during a save you'll see Saving previous stat with Wait for it to finish before logging another event.
There are no stat buttons. Tap a team card first, under 1. Which team? (scoring / defense / situational).
A player is missing from the list. Check the roster. Some stats only list players in a position: for example soccer saves list goalkeepers, baseball and softball pitching changes list pitchers, and football sacks list defenders. If no one fits, the panel says No players found for this position. Add the player or fix their position on the roster (Add, edit and remove players), then reload the Live page while you're online. If the player is optional, you can tap Skip and fix the play later.
Plays show Failed, or Stat queued (connection error), while you have signal. Tap Retry on the failed row. A play that failed because of a mistyped clock goes through, saved without the bad time. If Retry keeps failing, StatsCastr is refusing the play: remove it with Undo if it's the newest, and log it again. See Keep scoring when the internet drops.
Tennis says Set complete. The set has been won. Tap + to start the next set, then keep logging points.
The period and clock
Check the clock. The time you typed isn't a real time, or (in basketball, ice hockey, field hockey and lacrosse) it's longer than the period. The clock goes back to its last saved time. Type it as minutes and seconds, like 7:45, within the period length the message shows. Football and soccer allow times past the period length, for stoppage time. See Change the period and set the clock.
The clock reset. Changing the period with − or + resets the clock to the period's starting time. Retype it.
The + button is greyed out. In volleyball and tennis, the current set isn't finished yet. In field hockey, lacrosse and tennis, you've reached the last regulation period, and StatsCastr has no overtime period for those sports: log overtime plays in Q4.
The period jumped back. The period follows the newest play. If you tapped + and then undid, deleted or edited a play before logging anything in the new period, the Live page goes back. Tap + again.
The score looks wrong
The Live page and the fan page show different scores. The Live page counts plays still waiting to sync; the fan page only shows saved plays, and it refreshes every 15 seconds. Wait for the banner at the top of the Live page to clear, then check again.
A Failed play's points are on the Live page but not the fan page. Failed plays aren't saved. Log the play again so the real score is right. The fan page and box score show the true score.
The score-by-period table doesn't add up to the score. Someone typed over it with Edit. Those numbers only change that table. See Override the score by period.
A play counted for the wrong team or player. Tap Edit on it in the Play Log. See Edit or delete any play.
Undo, edits and ending the game
Could not delete event. The undo or delete didn't reach StatsCastr. Check your connection and try again.
Correction failed. StatsCastr refused the edit, and the message says why. In tennis, an edit or delete that would leave the match in an impossible order is refused.
The volleyball or tennis game ended on its own. When a team wins the match, StatsCastr marks the game final and the Live page opens the box score. That's expected. If it happened because of a wrong play, fix the play on the game's page.
End Game didn't end the game. If the game's page still shows Live game with Track Stats and End Game, the change didn't save, and no message shows. Check your connection and tap End Game on that page.
Plays are still waiting when the game ends. Don't tap End Game until the banner at the top of the Live page is gone. Once the game is final, plays still queued on your phone can't be sent.
