Create a game from a ScoreCastr match

Use a ScoreCastr link code to create the game, the teams and the rosters in one go, already linked.

If you've already set up the match in ScoreCastr, you don't have to build it again in StatsCastr. A link code brings over both teams and their rosters, creates the game and links it, all from one page. It's the quickest way to start keeping stats for a streamed game.

Short version

In ScoreCastr, tap Link StatsCastr on the match. In StatsCastr, tap Link from ScoreCastr, enter the code and tap Continue. Choose Create a new game from this match, pick or create each team, leave the roster boxes ticked, and tap Link game.

Before you start

  • You need ScoreCastr Pro and a ScoreCastr match in one of the linkable sports. See Link a game to ScoreCastr.
  • A game created this way is a scrimmage: it isn't in a season and doesn't count in standings. If the game should count, schedule it in StatsCastr first with the season selected, then link that game instead.

Create the game

  1. In ScoreCastr, open the match, go to its StatsCastr tab and tap Link StatsCastr. Note the code, or keep the QR code on screen.
  2. In StatsCastr, tap Link from ScoreCastr on Games or the dashboard. You can also tap the Scoring this game in ScoreCastr? banner on the + New Game form, or open the QR code with your phone's camera.
  3. Enter the code and tap Continue. The match appears with its Home and Away teams.
  4. Under Which StatsCastr game?, choose Create a new game from this match ("Brings over the teams and rosters from ScoreCastr"). It's already chosen if none of your games match.
  5. Under Team sides, set each team (see below).
  6. Tap Link game.

StatsCastr creates any new teams, adds the players, creates the game and links it. You'll see Linked to ScoreCastr and land on the new game's page.

  1. Tap Start Game when play begins, then Track Stats.

Choose the teams

For each ScoreCastr team there's a StatsCastr team for (name) list:

  • Create "(name)" from ScoreCastr makes a new StatsCastr team with ScoreCastr's name and colors. It's picked automatically when you don't have a team with that name.
  • Your existing team: pick it to use the team you already have, with its roster and stats history. StatsCastr picks it for you when the names match exactly.

Only teams of the match's sport are listed. Pick two different teams; if you choose the same one twice you'll see "Choose two different teams."

To keep your season stats in one place, use your existing team rather than creating a second copy of it.

Import the rosters

Under each team, Import N players for (name) from ScoreCastr copies that team's ScoreCastr roster: names, numbers and positions. It's ticked by default.

  • It only appears when you're creating the team, or the team you picked has no players yet.
  • It never adds players to a team that already has a roster, so you won't get duplicates.
  • Untick it to start with an empty roster and add players yourself.

Check the imported players afterwards on Teams → Roster, especially positions, since ScoreCastr and StatsCastr don't always use the same position names. See Add, edit and remove players.

What the new game gets

SettingValueCan you change it?
TeamsThe ones you chose, with ScoreCastr's home and awayNo
Game dateToday, at the time you linkedYes, before the start, with Edit Schedule
LocationNoneYes, before the start
SeasonNone (scrimmage)No
RulesThe sport's standard rules, not your league'sNo
VolleyballRally scoringNo

If your league plays different rules, for example college basketball halves, create the game in StatsCastr with the right ruleset and link it instead of creating it from the match. See Rulesets for each sport.

If something goes wrong

If you see an error, nothing is linked until you tap Link game successfully. Most problems are an old or used code; make a new one in ScoreCastr and tap Use another code. See Fix ScoreCastr link errors.
